Section 45-43-140 Forest fire protection. (a) The County Commission of Lowndes County is authorized,
when the need exists, to provide protection against forest fires in Lowndes County by participating
in the Alabama Forestry Commission's fire protection program in the manner hereinafter specified.
(b)(1) After the Lowndes County Commission has determined that such a need does exist in Lowndes
County, the county commission, in the manner hereinafter specified, may provide for a financial
charge or tax to be paid by the owners of forest lands located in Lowndes County for the use
of the land for timber growing purposes amounting to the whole or any part of the cost of
such fire protection program, but not in excess of ten cents ($.10) per acre, provided such
financial charge or tax is not greater then the benefit accruing to such forest lands due

Section 8-20-3 Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms shall have

Section 9-16-89 Performance bonds and bond releases. (a) After a surface coal mining and reclamation
permit application has been approved but before such a permit is issued, the applicant shall
file with the regulatory authority, on a form prescribed and furnished by the regulatory authority,
a bond for performance payable to the state and conditioned upon faithful performance of all
the requirements of this article and the permit. The bond shall cover all lands disturbed
by the surface coal mining operation and the amount of the initial bond shall be such to cover
that area of land within the permit area upon which the operator will initiate and conduct

Section 23-1-271 Definitions. For the purposes of this division, unless otherwise indicated,

the procurement of professional services by any agency, department, board, bureau, commission,
