Section 40-12-222 Levy and amount of tax. (a) In addition to all other taxes now imposed by
law, there is hereby levied and shall be collected as herein provided a privilege or license
tax on each person engaging or continuing within this state in the business of leasing or
renting tangible personal property at the rate of four percent of the gross proceeds derived
by the lessor from the lease or rental of tangible personal property; provided, that the privilege
or license tax on each person engaging or continuing within this state in the business of
leasing or renting any automotive vehicle or truck trailer, semitrailer, or house trailer
shall be at the rate of one and one-half percent of the gross proceeds derived by the lessor

Section 40-12-4 County license tax for school purposes - Authority to levy. (a) In order to
provide funds for public school purposes, the governing body of each of the several counties
in this state is hereby authorized by ordinance to levy and provide for the assessment and
collection of franchise, excise and privilege license taxes with respect to privileges or
receipts from privileges exercised in such county, which shall be in addition to any and all
other county taxes heretofore or hereafter authorized by law in such county. Such governing
body may, in its discretion, submit the question of levying any such tax to a vote of the
qualified electors of the county. If such governing body submits the question to the voters,
then the governing body shall also provide for holding and canvassing the returns of the election

Section 11-51-194 Delivery license. (a)(1) Each municipality shall allow the purchase of a
delivery license by any business that has no other physical presence within the municipality
or its police jurisdiction for the privilege of delivering its merchandise therein. The amount
of the delivery license for the business shall not exceed one hundred dollars ($100). Nothing
herein shall prohibit a municipality from requiring by ordinance the purchase of a decal by
the taxpayer for each delivery vehicle making deliveries within the municipality or its police
jurisdiction. The charge for such decal shall not exceed the municipality's actual cost of
the decal. (2) Notwithstanding any other law, a municipality may charge a taxpayer an issuance

Section 40-20-2 Levy and amount of tax upon business of producing or severing oil or gas from
soil, etc., generally. (a)(1) There is hereby levied, to be collected hereafter, as herein
