Section 11-44E-21 Government to be known as mayor/commission/city manager form of government; powers of city vested in commission; exercise of powers. The municipal government of any such city proceeding under this chapter shall be known as the "mayor/commission/city manager form of government." Pursuant to the provisions and limitations of this chapter and subject to the limitations imposed by the laws and Constitution of Alabama, all powers of the city shall be vested in the commission elected as herein provided and hereinafter referred to as "the commission," which shall enact ordinances, resolutions, budgets, and policies. All powers of the city shall be exercised in the manner prescribed by this chapter, or if the manner be not prescribed, then in such manner as may be prescribed by the laws of the state.
