Section 45-42A-23.02 Historic preservation commission. A historic preservation commission,
hereinafter referred to as the commission, with the following membership, duties, and powers,
may be established by ordinance of the governing body: (1) The commission shall be composed
of five members. Residents of the historic district or districts shall elect four members
and one member shall be a member of the City of Athens governing body designated by it. (2)
The members of the commission elected by the residents of the historic district during annual
meetings of the historic district association, except the member of the City of Athens governing

Section 45-46-90.01 Definitions. (a) Wherever used in this article, unless a different meaning
clearly appears in the context, the following terms and others evidently intended as the equivalent
thereof, shall be given the following respective interpretations: (1) APPLICANT. A natural

Section 11-43C-21 Powers of council; dealings with officers and employees in administrative
service. All legislative powers of the city, including all powers vested in it by this chapter,
by the laws, general and local, of the state, and by the Code of Alabama 1975, as amended,

(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), whenever in the judgment of the council,

Section 11-54-174 Procedure to incorporate; contents and execution of certificate of incorporation;
filing. Within 40 days following the adoption of an authorizing resolution the applicants
shall proceed to incorporate an authority by filing for record in the office of the judge

Section 34-14A-12 Standards of practice; building laws and codes. (a) The board may establish
or adopt residential building codes and standards of practice for residential home builders
