Section 40-8-1 Classification of property; assessment rate. (a) On and after October 1, 1978, with respect to ad valorem taxes levied by the state, and, unless otherwise provided, with respect to ad valorem taxes levied by a county, municipality, or other taxing authority other than the state, all taxable property shall be divided into the following classes and no other and shall be assessed for ad valorem tax purposes at the following ratios of assessed value to the fair and reasonable market value of such property, or, as may be provided by law, to the current use value of such property: CLASS I. Section 11-3-11.3 Collection of local taxes - Department of Revenue. (a) Counties may, upon request of the county commission, engage the Department of Revenue to collect and administer any county sales, use, rental, lodgings, tobacco, or other local taxes for which there is a corresponding state levy. Section 11-81-64 Bonds for refunding or funding of bonds outstanding - Authority for issuance; sale or exchange; rights, etc., of holders thereof. The governing body of any municipality may, without any election, issue bonds of the municipality for the purpose of refunding a like or greater face amount of the principal of any matured or unmatured bonds of such municipality then outstanding whether the bonds to be refunded belong to one class or to two or more classes or to one issue or to two or more issues.
