Section 5-17-4 Powers generally. (a) A credit union shall have all of the following powers: (1) To receive the savings of its members either as payment on shares or as deposits, including the right to conduct Christmas clubs, vacation clubs, and other thrift organizations within the membership. (2) To accept deposits of fiduciary funds if a member is the beneficiary, trustee, or personal representative and if the funds are part of the estate of a deceased member. (3) To make loans to members. (4) To make loans to other credit unions, including credit union service organizations. (5) To purchase loans from financial institutions, provided a purchased loan is of the nature and type that the credit union could have originated itself. Section 9-6-4 Application for authority to incorporate; review of application and issuance of executive order by Governor. (a) In order to form a public corporation under the provisions of this chapter, any number of natural persons, not less than three, shall first file a written application with the Governor. Section 11-3-4.1 Compensation of commissioners. (a) For the purposes of this section, Section 11-3-4, and Chapter 2A of this title, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIRMAN. (a) There is created a statewide 911 Board comprised of 13 members that shall reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity of the state. All appointing authorities shall coordinate their appointments so that diversity of gender, race, and geographical areas is reflective of the makeup of this state. (a) There is created the Alabama Housing Trust Fund Advisory Committee for the purpose of advising the Director of ADECA and staff of the department with respect to the Alabama Housing Trust Fund. (a) Notwithstanding any law of this state to the contrary, any person may apply to the commissioner for and obtain a certificate of authority to establish and operate a health maintenance organization in compliance with this chapter.
