Section 40-23-60 Definitions. For the purpose of this article, the following terms shall have
the respective meanings ascribed to them in this section: (1) PERSON or COMPANY. Any individual,
firm, company, partnership, association, corporation, receiver or trustee, or any other group
or combination acting as a unit, and the plural as well as the singular number, unless the
intention to give a more limited meaning is disclosed by the context. (2) DEPARTMENT. The
Department of Revenue of the State of Alabama. (3) COMMISSIONER. The Commissioner of Revenue

Section 8-6-2 Definitions. When used in this article, unless the context otherwise requires,
the following terms shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section:
(1) COMMISSION or SECURITIES COMMISSION. The securities commission. (2) AGENT. Any individual
other than a dealer who represents a dealer or issuer in effecting or attempting to effect
sales of securities, but such term does not include an individual who represents an issuer

Section 10A-2A-1.20 Requirements for filing instruments; extrinsic facts. (a) Whenever any
filing instrument is to be filed with the Secretary of State or in accordance with this chapter,
such instrument shall be executed as follows: (1) Except as provided in subsection (a)(3),
the certificate of incorporation, and any other instrument to be filed before the election
of the initial board of directors if the initial directors were not named in the certificate

Section 10A-1-8.02 Mergers of entities. (a) A merger of two or more entities, whether the other
entity or entities are the same or another form of entity, may be accomplished as provided
in this section. (1) CORPORATIONS. a. In the case of a corporation, other than a nonprofit
corporation, that is a party to a merger, a plan of merger must be approved in accordance
with the procedures and by the stockholder vote required by Article 11 of Chapter 2A. If the

Section 30-3B-102 Definitions. In this chapter, the following terms shall have the following
meanings: (1) ABANDONED. Left without provision for reasonable and necessary care or supervision.
(2) CHILD. An individual who has not attained 19 years of age. (3) CHILD CUSTODY DETERMINATION.

Section 45-4-244.20 County sales tax to parallel state tax; exemptions; collection and disposition
of funds; enforcement. (a) All words, terms, and phrases that are defined in Article 1 of
