Section 32-7A-2 Definitions. (a) For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section, except in those instances where the context clearly indicates a different meaning: (1) CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE. Section 32-7A-4 Liability insurance required. (a) No person shall operate, register, or maintain registration of, and no owner shall permit another person to operate, register, or maintain registration of, a motor vehicle designed to be used on a public highway unless the motor vehicle is covered by a liability insurance policy, a commercial automobile liability insurance policy, motor vehicle liability bond, or deposit of cash. (a) An insurer shall perform a comparison of its insureds' in-force life insurance policies, annuity contracts, and retained asset accounts against a death master file, to identify potential death master file matches of its insureds. Such comparison shall be completed by January 1, 2019.
