Section 27-44-3 Scope of chapter. (a) This chapter shall provide coverage for the policies and contracts specified in subsection (b) as follows: (1) To persons who, regardless of where they reside (except for non-resident certificate holders under group policies or contracts), are the beneficiaries, assignees, or payees of the persons covered under subdivision (2). (2) To persons who are owners of or certificate holders under the policies or contracts, other than structured settlement annuities, and in each case who are either of the following: a. Residents b. Not residents, but only under all of the following conditions: 1. The insurer that issued the policies or contracts is domiciled in this state. 2. The states in which the persons reside have associations similar to the association created by this chapter. 3. Section 40-12-253 Ad valorem taxation of motor vehicles. (a) Effective January 1, 2000, ad valorem taxes on motor vehicles shall be assessed and the tax collected forward on a current basis to coincide with the collection of motor vehicle license taxes and registration fees. (1) Ad valorem taxes on motor vehicles shall become due and payable on the first day of the registration renewal month of the owner, the date the motor vehicle enters the State of Alabama, the date the motor vehicle is removed from the inventory of a dealer, or the date on which the motor vehicle is otherwise determined to be taxable, whichever comes first. Section 43-2-851 Bond. (a) The court must require a personal representative or special administrator to furnish bond payable to the judge of probate conditioned upon faithful discharge of all duties of the trust according to law, with sureties as it shall specify. Unless otherwise directed, the bond must be in the amount of the aggregate capital value of the property of the estate in the personal representative's control, plus one year's estimated income, and minus the value of securities deposited under arrangements requiring an order of the court for their removal and the value of any land which the fiduciary, pursuant to Section 43-2-844, lacks power to sell or convey without court authorization. Section 43-2-852 Terms and requirements of bonds. (a) The following requirements and provisions apply to any bond required under Section 43-2-850: (1) Sureties are jointly and severally liable with the personal representative and with each other. (2) By executing an approved bond of a personal representative, the surety consents to the jurisdiction of the court that issued letters to the primary obligor in any proceeding pertaining to the fiduciary duties of the personal representative and naming the surety as a party respondent.
