Section 7-3-409 Acceptance of draft; certified check. (a) "Acceptance" means the
drawee's signed agreement to pay a draft as presented. It must be written on the draft and
may consist of the drawee's signature alone. Acceptance may be made at any time and becomes
effective when notification pursuant to instructions is given or the accepted draft is delivered
for the purpose of giving rights on the acceptance to any person. (b) A draft may be accepted
although it has not been signed by the drawer, is otherwise incomplete, is overdue, or has
been dishonored. (c) If a draft is payable at a fixed period after sight and the acceptor
fails to date the acceptance, the holder may complete the acceptance by supplying a date in
good faith. (d) "Certified check" means a check accepted by the bank on which it
is drawn. Acceptance may be made as stated in subsection (a) or by a writing on the check

Section 7-4A-104 Funds transfer - Definitions. In this article: (a) "Funds transfer"
means the series of transactions, beginning with the originator's payment order, made for
the purpose of making payment to the beneficiary of the order. The term includes any payment
order issued by the originator's bank or an intermediary bank intended to carry out the originator's
payment order. A funds transfer is completed by acceptance by the beneficiary's bank of a
payment order for the benefit of the beneficiary of the originator's payment order. (b) "Intermediary
bank" means a receiving bank other than the originator's bank or the beneficiary's bank.
(c) "Originator" means the sender of the first payment order in a funds transfer.
(d) "Originator's bank" means (i) the receiving bank to which the payment order

Section 5-13B-21 Definitions. As used in this article, unless a different meaning is required
by the context, the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings: (a) "Alabama
bank" means a bank whose home state is Alabama. (b) "Alabama state bank" means

Section 7-4A-502 Creditor process served on receiving bank; setoff by beneficiary's bank. (a)
As used in this section, "creditor process" means levy, attachment, garnishment,
notice of lien, sequestration, or similar process issued by, or on behalf of a creditor or
other claimant with respect to an account. (b) This subsection applies to creditor process
with respect to an authorized account of the sender of a payment order if the creditor process
is served on the receiving bank. For the purpose of determining rights with respect to the
creditor process, if the receiving bank accepts the payment order the balance in the authorized

Section 7-4-301 Deferred posting; recovery of payment by return of items; time of dishonor;
return of items by payor bank. (a) If a payor bank settles for a demand item other than a
documentary draft presented otherwise than for immediate payment over the counter before midnight

Section 7-4-503 Responsibility of presenting bank for documents and goods; report of reasons
for dishonor; referee in case of need. Unless otherwise instructed and except as provided

Section 7-4A-210 Rejection of payment order. (a) A payment order is rejected by the receiving
bank by a notice of rejection transmitted to the sender orally, electronically, or in writing.
A notice of rejection need not use any particular words and is sufficient if it indicates
that the receiving bank is rejecting the order or will not execute or pay the order. Rejection
is effective when the notice is given if transmission is by a means that is reasonable in
the circumstances. If notice of rejection is given by a means that is not reasonable, rejection
