Section 45-7-241 Levy of tax; disposition of funds; construction with state sales tax statutes. (a) The following words, terms, and phrases as used in this section shall have the following respective meanings except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning: (1) "Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Revenue of the State. (2) "County" means Butler County in the State of Alabama. (3) "Fiscal Year" means the period commencing on October 1 of each calendar year and ending on September 30 of the next succeeding calendar year. (4) "Month" means a calendar month. (5) "Quarterly Period" means the period of three months ending on the last of each March, June, September, and December. Any procedure adopted by the municipality for the abatement and removal of inoperable motor vehicles as public nuisances shall include, but is not limited to, the following: (1) A provision requiring notice to be sent by certified mail to the last registered owner of record, and notice to all other interested parties by securely affixing to the vehicle notice that a hearing may be requested and that if no hearing is requested, the inoperable motor vehicle will be removed. Except for vessels subject to Section 33-5A-5: (1) A person who removes, stores, or sells a vessel in accordance with this chapter shall have a lien on the vessel for all of the following: a. The reasonable fees connected with the removal and storage of the vessel. b. The court costs and filing fees incurred in obtaining a court order for the sale of the vessel. c.
