Section 45-5-246.07 Disposition of funds. All taxes collected under this part shall be remitted to Blount County as all other sales and use taxes applicable to the county, whether imposed by state statutes or local act. (a) It shall be the duty of each wholesale dealer or jobber who sells, stores, or delivers cigarettes to retail sellers in this county to affix to each package of cigarettes sold or delivered in the county the designated stamp. Each wholesaler or jobber who desires to do so may purchase the stamps from the county commission of the county at a 10 percent discount on the entire amount of sale when the purchases are made in quantities of one thousand dollars ($1,000) or more. (a) The Alabama Department of Revenue shall retain one-quarter of one percent (0.25%) of the tax proceeds, less any refunds, from this additional excise tax on gasoline and diesel fuel for its cost of collection. There is hereby created the Alabama Transportation Safety Fund in the State Treasury.
