Section 32-5A-83 When passing on right permitted. (a) The driver of a vehicle may overtake
and pass upon the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions: (1) When the
vehicle overtaken is making or about to make a left turn; (2) Upon a roadway with unobstructed
pavement of sufficient width for two or more lines of vehicles moving lawfully in the direction
being traveled by the overtaking vehicle. (b) The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass
another vehicle upon the right only under conditions permitting such movement in safety. Such

Section 32-5A-211 Pedestrians' right-of-way in crosswalks. (a) When traffic-control signals
are not in place or not in operation the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way,
slowing down or stopping if need be to so yield, to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within
a crosswalk when the pedestrian is upon the half of the roadway upon which the vehicle is
traveling, or when the pedestrian is approaching so closely from the opposite half of the
roadway as to be in danger. (b) No pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of
safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close as to constitute an immediate

Section 32-5A-80 Driving on right side of roadway; exceptions. (a) Upon all roadways of sufficient
width, a vehicle shall be driven upon the right half of the roadway, except under any of the

Section 32-1-1.1 Definitions. The following words and phrases when used in this title, for
the purpose of this title, shall have meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section,
except when the context otherwise requires: (1) ALLEY. A street or highway intended to provide

Section 32-5A-82 Overtaking vehicle on left. The following rules shall govern the overtaking
and passing of vehicles proceeding in the same direction, subject to those limitations, exceptions,
and special rules hereinafter stated: (1) The driver of a vehicle overtaking another vehicle
proceeding in the same direction shall pass to the left thereof at a safe distance and shall
not again drive to the right side of the roadway until safely clear of the overtaken vehicle.

Section 32-5A-133 Turning movements and required signals. (a) No person shall turn a vehicle
or move right or left upon a roadway unless and until such movement can be made with reasonable
safety nor without giving an appropriate signal in the manner hereinafter provided. (b) A
signal of intention to turn right or left when required shall be given continuously during
not less than the last 100 feet traveled by the vehicle before turning. (c) No person shall

Section 32-5A-138 Additional parking regulations. (a) Except as otherwise provided in this
section, every vehicle stopped or parked upon a two-way roadway shall be so stopped or parked

Section 32-5A-115 Operation of vehicles on approach of authorized emergency vehicles; signals
on emergency vehicles; duty of emergency vehicle driver. (a) Upon the immediate approach of
an authorized emergency vehicle equipped with at least one lighted lamp and audible signal

Section 32-5-242 Requirements as to head lamps and auxiliary driving lamps. (a) Visibility

Section 32-5A-195 Cancellation, suspension, or revocation of driver's license; grounds, procedure,
etc. (a) The Secretary of the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency is authorized to cancel
any driver's license upon determining that the licensee was not entitled to the issuance thereof
or that the licensee failed to give the correct or required information in his or her application.
Upon such cancellation, the licensee must surrender the license so cancelled. If the licensee
refuses to surrender the license, he or she shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. (b) The privilege
of driving a motor vehicle on the highways of this state given to a nonresident shall be subject
to suspension or revocation by the Secretary of the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency in
