Section 9-2-1 Created; seal. There shall be a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which shall be an executive and administrative department in order to enable the Governor to exercise a direct and effective control over the natural resources, state parks and historical sites of the state and in order to bring together in one department for purposes of economy and efficiency all matters pertaining to the natural resources, state parks and monuments and historical sites of the state.
