Section 16-22-2 Police officers at state colleges and universities or Institute for Deaf and Blind - Extension of jurisdiction. Section 21-4-4 Standards and specifications for public buildings and facilities - Applicability. (a) The standards and specifications prescribed by the fire marshal, as authorized in this article, shall apply to all buildings and facilities used by the public which are constructed in whole or in part by the use of state, county, or municipal funds, or the funds of any political subdivision of the state. (a) Whenever, on the basis of any information, the department determines that any person is in violation of any requirement of this chapter, any rule or regulation promulgated by the department or any permit issued under authority granted by this chapter, the department may issue an order requiring compliance immediately or within a specified time period, and, in cases where an imminent threat to human health or the environment is demonstrated, suspend operations causing such threat until the department determines that adequate steps are being taken to correct such violations. Section 24-5-14 Penalties; disposition of funds. (a) Whoever violates this article or any regulation or order issued under this article shall be liable for a civil penalty of not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) for each such violation.
