Section 45-39-220 Nighttime hunting of raccoons and opossums. In Lauderdale County, the provisions of any law or the provisions of any rule, regulation, or order of the Commissioner of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to the contrary notwithstanding, it shall be lawful to hunt, and to capture or kill raccoons and opossums between sunset and daylight with a light and a dog and if hunting on the lands of another, written permission of the landowner is necessary, and by the use of a shotgun using number 6 shot or a .22 caliber rifle using .22 caliber short cartridges, and the person or persons so hunting may not have in their possession any ammunition, except number 6 shot or short cartridges for a .22 caliber rifle. (a) It shall be the duty and responsibility of the Division of Lands of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to protect, develop and supervise all state-owned islands now existing or which may appear in the future on the waters of this state which are not used by any department or agency of the state government.
