Section 8-20-4 Unfair and deceptive trade practices. Notwithstanding the terms, provisions, or conditions of any dealer agreement or franchise or the terms or provisions of any waiver, prior to the termination, cancellation, or nonrenewal of any dealer agreement or franchise, the following acts or conduct shall constitute unfair and deceptive trade practices: (1) For any manufacturer, factory branch, factory representative, distributor, or wholesaler, distributor branch, or distributor representative to coerce or attempt to coerce any motor vehicle dealer to do any of the following: a. (a) Each judge of probate, commissioner of licenses, director of revenue, or other county official in this state authorized and required by law to issue motor vehicle license tags, unless otherwise provided by law, shall by virtue of his or her office be a designated agent of the department. Section 32-6-350 Legislative intent. (a) It is the intent of the Legislature to establish an Alabama Veteran Tag Program to recognize certain veterans. (b) The owner of a motor vehicle who is a resident of this state and who is an eligible veteran pursuant to subsection (c) of this section may be issued a distinctive license tag pursuant to this division. Before any vehicle can be assessed, the judge of probate shall be furnished the tag number presently on the vehicle unless the vehicle is new, in which case the judge of probate shall be furnished a bona fide bill of sale from the dealer showing when the vehicle was bought new.
