official or county employee may discharge himself or itself of the suretyship upon making
sworn application in writing addressed to the official, county commission, board, or commission

Section 40-29-20 Lien for taxes - Generally. If any person liable to pay any tax, other than
ad valorem tax, neglects or refuses to pay the same, the amount (including any interest, additional
amount, addition to tax, or assessable penalty together with any costs that may accrue in
addition thereto) shall be a lien in favor of the State of Alabama upon all property and rights
to property, whether real or personal, tangible or intangible, belonging to such person.

Section 45-48-246 Levy and collection of tax. (a) The Marshall County Commission may levy from
each producer of coal in Marshall County a privilege or license tax to be known as a severance
tax. The rate of the tax shall be established by the county commission. (b) The tax herein
