Section 15-18-142 Definitions. Unless the context clearly requires otherwise or unless different
meanings are expressly specified in subsequent provisions of this article, wherever used in
this article, in the singular or plural case, the following terms shall mean: (1) PERSON.
a. A human being. b. A public or private corporation, an unincorporated association, a partnership,
or other entity established by law. c. A government or governmental instrumentality, including,
but not limited to the State of Alabama or any political subdivision thereof. (2) RESTITUTION.
An amount of money ordered by a court to be paid to a clerk or other person by a defendant
for the use and benefit of a victim of the defendant's criminal offense. (3) DEFENDANT. A
person, as defined, who has been ordered by a court to pay restitution. (4) CRIMINAL OFFENSE.

Section 34-13-56 Grounds for revocation, suspension, or refusal to issue or renew licenses,
etc.; hearing; fines. (a) The board may refuse to license any person or establishment for
violation of this chapter. If the board refuses to issue, grant, or renew a license based
on a violation of this chapter, including, but not limited to, violations listed in subsection
(c), the licensee or prospective licensee may request a public hearing before the board to
appeal the action of the board. The request for a public hearing shall be submitted to the
board in writing within 14 calendar days after the date of the refusal. Upon request, the

Section 34-27-36 Disciplinary action - Generally. (a) The commission or its staff may on its
own, or on the verified complaint in writing of any person, investigate the actions and records
of a licensee. The commission may issue subpoenas and compel the testimony of witnesses and
the production of records and documents during an investigation. If probable cause is found,
a formal complaint shall be filed and the commission shall hold a hearing on the formal complaint.
The commission shall revoke or suspend the license or impose a fine of not less than one hundred
dollars ($100) nor more than two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500), or both, or reprimand
the licensee in each instance in which the licensee is found guilty of any of the following
