Section 43-8-297 Uniformity of application and construction. This article shall be applied and construed to effectuate its general purpose to make uniform the law with respect to the subject of this article among states enacting it. It is the intent of the legislature of the state of Alabama by this article to clarify the laws of this state with respect to the subject matter hereof in order to ensure the ability of persons to disclaim interests in property without the imposition of federal and state estate, inheritance, gift and transfer taxes. (a) All laws or parts of laws, both general and local, and any rules or portions of rules adopted by the Supreme Court which conflict with this chapter are expressly repealed. Section 45-11-242 Levy and collection of tax; disposition of funds. (a) In Chilton County, in addition to any and all other taxes heretofore or hereafter levied, the Chilton County Commission is hereby authorized to levy an ad valorem tax, not to exceed five mills, on each dollar of taxable property effective upon ratification by the qualified electors, at a referendum called for the purpose, within 90 days after June 11, 1987.
