Section 40-27-1 Compact adopted; terms. The following Multistate Tax Compact is hereby approved, adopted and enacted into law by the State of Alabama: Multistate Tax Compact Article I. Purposes. The purposes of this compact are to: 1. Facilitate proper determination of state and local tax liability of multistate taxpayers, including the equitable apportionment of tax bases and settlement of apportionment disputes. 2. Promote uniformity or compatibility in significant components of tax systems. 3. Facilitate taxpayer convenience and compliance in the filing of tax returns and in other phases of tax administration. 4. Avoid duplicative taxation. Article II. Definitions. Section 8-19-11 Penalties. (a) Any person who violates the terms of an injunction or order issued under this chapter shall forfeit and pay a civil penalty of not more than $25,000 per violation and shall be adjudged in contempt. For the purpose of this section, any circuit court issuing an injunction or order under this chapter shall retain jurisdiction, and in such cases the Attorney General or the district attorney acting in the name of the state may petition for recovery of such civil penalties. Section 24-5-14 Penalties; disposition of funds. (a) Whoever violates this article or any regulation or order issued under this article shall be liable for a civil penalty of not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) for each such violation.
