Section 16-53-3 Board of trustees - Created; membership, eligibility, etc. (a) The board of
trustees of the state educational institution at Livingston, Alabama, now known as The University
of West Alabama, but formerly known as Livingston University, shall consist of two members
from the congressional district in which the primary campus office of the institution is located,
one member from each of the other congressional districts in the state, five members from
the state-at-large, the State Superintendent of Education, and the Governor, who shall be
ex officio president of the board. Beginning in 2006, the terms of the trustees shall be six
years, with the exceptions noted below, and no trustee may serve more than two terms except
that trustees serving in 2006 are eligible for appointment to one additional term regardless

Section 22-52-91 Duty of law enforcement officer, community mental health officer to take into
custody alleged mentally ill persons; detention; admission; hearing. (a) When a law enforcement
officer is confronted by circumstances and has reasonable cause for believing that a person
within the county is mentally ill and also believes that the person is likely to be of immediate
danger to self or others, the law enforcement officer shall contact a community mental health
officer. The community mental health officer shall join the law enforcement officer at the
scene and location of the person to assess conditions and determine if the person needs the
attention, specialized care, and services of a designated mental health facility. If the community
mental health officer determines from the conditions, symptoms, and behavior that the person

the purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed

Section 45-8-242 Levy of tax; advisory referendum; collection of tax; disposition of funds.
(a) This section shall only apply to Calhoun County. (b) As used in this section, state sales
and use tax means the tax imposed by the state sales and use tax statutes, including, but
not limited to, Sections 40-23-1, 40-23-2, 40-23-4, 40-23-60, 40-23-61, 40-23-62, and 40-23-63.
(c)(1) The County Commission of Calhoun County may levy in the police jurisdictions of the
incorporated municipalities in the county and in the unincorporated areas of the county, in
addition to all other taxes a sales and use tax, parallel to the state sales and use tax,

Section 11-65-22 Acquisition of interest in horse racing facility licensee or operator. (a)
A disqualified person may not acquire or hold an interest in a horse racing facility licensee
or an operator. A commission may require that a disqualified person dispose of its interest
in a horse racing facility licensee or an operator within a reasonable period of time provided
that (i) the commission shall determine at a hearing that the owner of such interest is a
disqualified person and (ii) the person who is alleged to be a disqualified person shall receive
notice of and an opportunity to be heard at such hearing. Any person aggrieved by an action

Section 16-16-10 Disposition of proceeds of bonds. (a) The proceeds of all bonds, other than
refunding bonds, issued by the authority remaining after paying expenses of their issuance
shall be deposited in the State Treasury and shall be carried in the State Treasury in a special
