Section 2-19-121 Definitions. As used in this article, the following words shall have the meaning stated below, unless the context requires otherwise: (1) BOLL WEEVIL. Anthonomus grandis Boheman in any stage of development. (2) CERTIFICATE. A document issued or authorized by the commissioner indicating that a regulated article is not contaminated with boll weevils. (3) COMMISSIONER. The Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries or his designated representative. (4) COTTON. Any cotton plant or cotton plant product upon which the boll weevil is dependent for completion of any portion of its life cycle. (5) HOST. Any plant or plant product upon which the boll weevil is dependent for completion of any portion of its life cycle. (6) INFESTED. Section 2-2-14 Livestock theft investigator. The Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, with the approval of the Governor, is hereby authorized to designate as "livestock theft investigator" any employee or employees of the Department of Agriculture and Industries performing duties relating to the enforcement of the livestock laws of this state. Section 2-4-1 Appointment of State Veterinarian; qualifications; compensation and powers and duties. The State Veterinarian of Alabama shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, the Governor of Alabama, and the President of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, or majority of them, from the list of qualified applicants who have passed the official examination and who have been certified to the aforesaid appointing authorities by the State Personnel Department.
