Section 40-23-1 Definitions; transactions considered or not considered sales. (a) For the purpose
of this division, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed by this
section: (1) PERSON or COMPANY. Used interchangeably, includes any individual, firm, copartnership,
association, corporation, receiver, trustee, or any other group or combination acting as a
unit and the plural as well as the singular number, unless the intention to give a more limited

Section 45-49-140.10 Service charges - Levy and collection. (a) The expense of establishing
and maintaining a district shall be paid for by the proceeds of a service charge which shall
be levied and collected in an amount sufficient to pay the expense. The service charge shall
be levied upon and collected from persons and properties served by the system. Such charge
shall be a personal obligation of the owner of the property served by the system, and to secure
the collection of the charge there shall be a lien against the property in favor of the district,

(a) As used in this section, the term nonresident of Alabama shall include individuals, trusts,

Section 45-28-231 Abandoned and stolen personal property. (a) The Sheriff of Etowah County
shall keep and maintain a permanent record of all abandoned and stolen personal property recovered
by the sheriff's office, which the records shall state the description of the property, the
date of recovery of the property, the serial or other identifying number of the property,
and the place of recovery of the property. The records shall be open to public inspection
at all reasonable times. All abandoned or stolen property recovered by the sheriff's office
shall be stored in a suitable place to protect the abandoned or stolen personal property from
