Section 8-6-71 (Repealed effective January 1, 1997) Definitions. For the purposes of this article, unless the context otherwise requires, the following terms shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section: Assignment. Such term includes any written stock power, bond power, bill of sale, deed, declaration of trust, or other instrument of transfer. Claim of beneficial interest. Such term includes a claim of any interest by a decedent's legatee, distributee, heir or creditor, a beneficiary under a trust, a ward, a beneficial owner of a security registered in the name of a nominee or a minor owner of a security registered in the name of a custodian, or a claim of any similar interest whether the claim is asserted by the claimant, a fiduciary, or by any other authorized person on his behalf and includes a claim that the transfer would be in breach of fiduciary duties. (a) A transfer is not voidable under Section 8-9A-4(a) against a person who took in good faith and for a reasonably equivalent value or against any subsequent transferee or obligee who took in good faith. Section 8-35-2 Security freeze on credit report. (a) A consumer may place a security freeze on the consumer's credit report by making a request in writing by certified mail to a consumer credit reporting agency. No later than August 31, 2012, a consumer credit reporting agency shall make available to consumers an Internet based method of requesting a security freeze and a toll-free telephone number for consumers to use to place a security freeze, temporarily lift a security freeze, or completely remove a security freeze.
