Section 43-2-843 Transactions authorized for personal representatives; exceptions. Except as restricted or otherwise provided by the will or by an order of court and subject to the priorities stated in Section 43-8-76, a personal representative, acting prudently for the benefit of the interested persons, may properly: (1) Retain assets owned by the decedent pending distribution or liquidation including those in which the representative is personally interested or which are otherwise improper for trust investment. (2) Receive assets from fiduciaries, or other sources. (3) Perform, compromise, or refuse performance of the decedent's contracts that continue as obligations of the estate, as the personal representative may determine under the circumstances. Section 34-13-56 Grounds for revocation, suspension, or refusal to issue or renew licenses, etc.; hearing; fines. (a) The board may refuse to license any person or establishment for violation of this chapter. If the board refuses to issue, grant, or renew a license based on a violation of this chapter, including, but not limited to, violations listed in subsection (c), the licensee or prospective licensee may request a public hearing before the board to appeal the action of the board. The request for a public hearing shall be submitted to the board in writing within 14 calendar days after the date of the refusal. Section 39-2-12 Partial and final payments of contractors by awarding authorities. (a) As used in this section the following words shall have the meanings ascribed to them as follows: (1) CONTRACTOR. Any natural person, partnership, company, firm, corporation, association, limited liability company, cooperative, or other legal entity licensed by the Alabama State Licensing Board for General Contractors. Section 11-65-20 Terms of operator's license. (a) An operator's license issued under this chapter, whether for horse racing and pari-mutuel wagering thereon or for greyhound racing and pari-mutuel wagering thereon, shall be for an initial period of 20 years, but shall be subject to renewal as provided in this section.
