Section 22-18-50 Enactment and text of Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact. The Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact is hereby enacted into law and entered into with all other jurisdictions legally joining therein in form substantially as follows: SECTION 1. PURPOSE In order to protect the public through verification of competency and ensure accountability for patient care related activities all states license emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), advanced EMTs and paramedics. This Compact is intended to facilitate the day to day movement of EMS personnel across state boundaries in the performance of their EMS duties as assigned by an appropriate authority and authorize state EMS offices to afford immediate legal recognition to EMS personnel licensed in a member state. Section 45-17A-50.10 Finality of disciplinary action; record of hearing and determination; procedures of hearings; review. (a) No disciplinary action taken against a regular status employee, except a head of a department, that involves suspension without pay, demotion, dismissal, or any other action as defined by the implementing rules and regulations shall become final until the board holds a hearing on the action, if the employee appeals the action in writing to the board within 10 calendar days of receipt of written notification of the action to be taken by the mayor. (a) The mayor or the head of the department may discipline any employee pursuant to this part and the rules and regulations adopted by the city council to implement this part.
