Section 45-37A-41 Removal or demolition of unsafe structures. (a) The City of Bessemer shall have authority, after notice as provided herein, to move or demolish buildings and structures, or parts of buildings and structures, party walls, and foundations when the same are found by the governing body of the city to be unsafe to the extent of being a public nuisance from any cause. (b) The term appropriate city official as used in this section shall mean any city official or city employee designated by the mayor or other chief executive officer of such city as the person to exercise the authority and perform the duties delegated by this section to appropriate city official. Section 9-16-90 Environmental protection performance standards. (a) Any permit issued pursuant to this article to conduct surface mining operations shall require that such surface coal mining operations will meet all applicable performance standards of this article, and such other requirements as the regulatory authority shall promulgate. Section 34-31-32 Violations; penalties. (a) Any person engaged in business as a certified contractor or performing the functions of a certified contractor in violation of this chapter shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor, as defined by the state criminal code. (b) The board may, at its discretion, impose late penalties on those certified contractors who fail to renew certificates by December 31 of each year. The board may also remove certification from any certified person who fails to renew his or her certificate by the first day of March and require the person to apply for a new certificate.
