Section 39-2-12 Partial and final payments of contractors by awarding authorities. (a) As used
in this section the following words shall have the meanings ascribed to them as follows: (1)
CONTRACTOR. Any natural person, partnership, company, firm, corporation, association, limited
liability company, cooperative, or other legal entity licensed by the Alabama State Licensing
Board for General Contractors. (2) NONRESIDENT CONTRACTOR. A contractor which is neither a.
organized and existing under the laws of the State of Alabama, nor b. maintains its principal
place of business in the State of Alabama. A nonresident contractor which has maintained a
permanent branch office within the State of Alabama for at least five continuous years shall

Section 28-3-190 Levy of tax; collection; disposition of proceeds by localities; enforcement
and administration; penalties; exclusive nature of tax. (a) Levy. In addition to the excise
tax levied by Article 5A of Chapter 3 of this title and the licenses provided for by Chapter

Section 27-12A-22 Immunity from liability. (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b),
there shall be no civil liability imposed on and no cause of action shall arise against a
person for furnishing or receiving information concerning suspected, anticipated, or completed

Section 37-14-9 Action for injunction or damages for violation of article authorized; procedure.
(a) If an electric supplier commences construction of facilities in violation of the provisions
of this article, any aggrieved electric supplier which is designated herein as the entity
to provide such service (the "aggrieved electric supplier") may petition the circuit
court for the judicial circuit in which the facilities are being constructed by the offending

a determination of liability for a civil violation is made pursuant to an ordinance authorized
by this part, and who actually pays the fine imposed thereby shall have a cause of action
