Section 11-32-7 Powers of authority. (a) The authority shall exercise powers and duties necessary to the discharge of its powers and duties in corporate form as follows: (1) Have succession by its corporate name in perpetuity subject to Section 11-32-20. (2) Sue and be sued in its own name in civil suits and actions and defend suits against it. (3) Adopt and make use of a corporate seal and alter the same at its pleasure. (4) Adopt and alter bylaws for the regulation and conduct of its affairs and business. (a) It is declared to be the policy of this state that each housing authority shall manage and operate its low rent housing projects in an efficient manner so as to enable it to fix the rentals for dwelling accommodations at the lowest possible rates consistent with its providing decent, safe, and sanitary dwelling accommodations for persons of low income, and that no housing authority shall construct or operate any such project for profit, or as a source of revenue of the city or town. Section 40-10-141 Lien and sale of property for unpaid installments of taxes - Procedure. The State of Alabama shall have a lien for all unpaid partial payments as well as for taxes for any subsequent year, and in case of the failure to pay any one of said installments together with the taxes for any subsequent year, either or both, the Land Commissioner for and in the name of the State of Alabama shall at his option declare all said installments due and payable at once.
