Section 5-20-10 Construction with other laws; repeal of conflicting laws. To the extent other
laws or parts of laws, whether general, local, or general laws of local application, conflict
with this chapter, such other laws or parts of laws are hereby amended or repealed to the

Section 11-43B-31 Laws relating to city continued in effect; inconsistent laws as to exercise
of powers and duties of other form of government; Chapter 44B of this title not repealed.
All laws and parts of laws, general, local, or special, relating to or affecting the city,
its powers, functions, duties, and property, in force when this chapter shall take effect,
are hereby continued in effect; but all such laws relating to the exercise of the powers,
functions, and duties of the commission or some other form of government, shall be superseded
to the extent that the same are inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter, and all

Section 45-45A-43.01 Increase to ad valorem tax. (a) The Legislature hereby approves the proposed
increase in the maximum rate at which the city general purpose tax is authorized to be levied
from one and eight-tenths per centum [1.8 percent, equivalent to 18 mills] of the assessed
value of taxable property in the city to two and four-tenths per centum [2.4 percent, equivalent
to 24 mills] of the assessed value of taxable property in the city. The proposed increase
in the maximum rate at which the city general purpose tax is authorized to be levied shall
become effective only if the increase is approved, subsequent to the enactment of this section,
by a majority of the qualified electors of the city who vote on the proposal at a special
election during any regular scheduled election, as amended. The city council may make the

Section 12-5A-14 Construction. (a) All laws or parts of laws, both general and local, and any
rules or portions of rules adopted by the Supreme Court which conflict with this chapter are
