Section 5-17-4 Powers generally. (a) A credit union shall have all of the following powers:
(1) To receive the savings of its members either as payment on shares or as deposits, including
the right to conduct Christmas clubs, vacation clubs, and other thrift organizations within
the membership. (2) To accept deposits of fiduciary funds if a member is the beneficiary,
trustee, or personal representative and if the funds are part of the estate of a deceased
member. (3) To make loans to members. (4) To make loans to other credit unions, including
credit union service organizations. (5) To purchase loans from financial institutions, provided
a purchased loan is of the nature and type that the credit union could have originated itself.

Section 40-16-1.2 Additional items included in federal taxable income; items deducted from
federal taxable income. (a) The following items shall be added to federal taxable income for
purposes of computing net income under this chapter: (1) The tax due under this chapter that
is deducted in computing federal taxable income. (2) State and local taxes that are deducted

Section 5-17-60 Confidentiality of conditions and affairs of credit unions; disclosures. (a)
Except as otherwise provided in this title or under state or federal law, the administrator,
a member of the Credit Union Board, or an examiner or other state employee may not disclose
the condition and affairs of any credit union, its supervisory committee, or subsidiaries
or other affiliates, ascertained by an examination of such credit union or affiliates, or

Section 25-2-27 Minimizing adverse effects on certain unemployed and underemployed workers.
(a) In order to assist employees who become unemployed or underemployed as the result of a
substantial layoff at or the closing of any plant or industry in Alabama, the Secretary of
