Section 5-24-1 Definitions. In this chapter: (1) ACCOUNT means a contract of deposit between a depositor and a financial institution, and includes a checking account, savings account, time deposit, certificate of deposit, and share account. (2) AGENT means a person authorized to make account transactions for a party. (3) BENEFICIARY means a person named as one to whom sums on deposit in an account are payable on request after death of all parties or for whom a party is named as trustee. (4) DEVISEE means any person designated in a will to receive a testamentary disposition of real or personal property. (5) FINANCIAL INSTITUTION means an organization authorized to do business under state or federal laws relating to financial institutions, and includes a bank, trust company, savings bank, building and loan association, savings and loan company or association, and credit union. (a)(1) There is established an advisory committee to be known as the Cahawba Advisory Committee, composed of 16 members, 15 of whom shall be appointed by the Governor. (a) Any employee cooperative may establish through its governing documents a system of internal capital accounts, to reflect the book value and to determine the redemption price of membership shares, capital stock, and written notices of allocation. (b) The governing documents of an employee cooperative may permit the periodic redemption of written notices of allocation and capital stock, and shall provide for recall and redemption of the membership share upon termination of membership in the cooperative. Section 12-17-145 Officials covered by division; notification procedure; post-election contribution transfer; post-transfer credits and contributions. (a) Any clerk or register of the circuit court shall be subject to the terms of this division unless he or she notifies the Administrative Director of Courts in writing to the contrary 30 days subsequent to October 1, 1995.
