Section 45-37-123.01 Definitions. For the purposes of this part, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) ACT. The act adding this part, to be called the General Retirement System for Employees of Jefferson County Act. (2) ACTIVE MEMBER. An individual who currently is employed by the county or other entities set forth in subdivision (20) and is making employee contributions to the system. (3) ACTUARIAL EQUIVALENT. Effective July 30, 1984, or such other dates as set forth in Exhibit A, which is maintained in the office of the pension board, a form of benefit differing in time, period, or manner of payment from a specific benefit provided under the plan but having the same value when computed using the mortality tables, the interest rate, and any other assumptions last adopted by the pension board, which assumptions shall clearly preclude any discretion in the determination of the amount of a member's benefit. (a) The Office of Indigent Defense Services is established to carry out the administrative duties relating to the provision of indigent defense services. (a) On and after October 1, 1991, or if a vacancy occurs in either the office of tax assessor or the office of tax collector of Clarke County before such date, then immediately upon the occurrence of such vacancy there shall be the office of county revenue commissioner in Clarke County. Section 32-7A-12 Suspension of registration. (a) The department shall suspend the vehicle registration of any motor vehicle determined to be in violation of Section 32-7A-4, including any motor vehicle operated in violation of Section 32-7A-16 by an operator other than the owner of the vehicle. Neither the fact that, subsequent to the date of verification or violation, the owner acquired the required liability insurance policy nor the fact that the owner terminated ownership of the motor vehicle shall have any bearing upon the required suspension. (a) The Alabama Department of Revenue shall retain one-quarter of one percent (0.25%) of the tax proceeds, less any refunds, from this additional excise tax on gasoline and diesel fuel for its cost of collection.
