Section 45-17A-82.02 Applicability; implementing rules and regulations; job descriptions; regular status; reduction in salary or compensation. (a) All covered employees of the City of Tuscumbia shall be subject to this part and the rules and regulations prescribed in or promulgated pursuant to this part. (b) All implementing rules and regulations shall be approved by the city council, based upon applicable state and federal laws, and shall provide rules for examination and appointment of new employees, reassignment of current employees, separations, disciplinary actions to include suspensions, demotions, and dismissals, layoffs, leaves of absence with pay, leaves of absence without pay, and all other matters determined by the city council to be required to effectively implement the intent of this part. Whenever any vacancy in the office of mayor shall occur by reason of death, resignation, removal, or any other cause, the president of the council shall assume the duties of the office of mayor effective on the date such vacancy occurs and shall serve as acting mayor until a new mayor is elected and qualified as hereinafter provided.
