Section 45-49A-63.120 Appointment of board. (a) The board is responsible for the general administration of the plan and for carrying out the plan. The board shall consist of (i) three members to be elected from the uniformed officers in the city's police department by the uniformed officers in that department, (ii) three members to be elected from the uniformed officers in the city's fire department by the uniformed officers in that department, (iii) two persons, who must be city residents, at least age 21 and not receiving any salary from the city for services as an employee of the city and not related beyond the limits of the nepotism law for state service as prescribed in Section 41-1-5, to any active employee of the city fire department or police department, appointed by the city council or like governing body of the city, and (iv) the city's finance director. Whenever a vacancy exists in any position in the service of the city, it shall be filled by appointment of a person on the appropriate eligible register of the board.
