Section 45-35-120 Definitions. The following words, terms, and phrases, wherever used herein, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section, and shall include the singular as well as the plural: (1) ALLOCATION. The assignment of positions to a class on the basis of the nature, difficulty, and responsibility or work of the positions. (2) APPOINTING AUTHORITY. Appeals to the board of adjustment may be taken by any person aggrieved or by any officer or department of Mobile County affected by any decision of any administrative officer representing the county in an official capacity in the enforcement of this part or of any ordinance or regulation adopted pursuant to this part. Notwithstanding any provision herein, the board of adjustment shall have no jurisdiction to review any decision already determined by the Mobile County Commission. Section 45-8A-71.11 Civil service board - Vacancies in positions; appointment from eligible register. Whenever a vacancy exists in any position in the service of the city, it shall be filled by appointment of a person on the appropriate eligible register of the board.
