Section 45-39-40.21 Barbers commission. (a) There is hereby created a barbers commission for the county to which his article applies. The Governor shall appoint three persons, each of whom immediately prior to the date of his or her appointment has been a resident of the county for three years, and who has had at least five years' experience as a barber, one member to be appointed for a term of one year, one member to be appointed for a term of two years, and one member to be appointed for a term of three years. Thereafter, the term of any member appointed and qualified to succeed the members of any such barbers commission first appointed shall be for three years and until his or her successors shall have been appointed and qualified. Section 37-15-10.1 Underground Damage Prevention Authority. (a) The Underground Damage Prevention Authority is created for the purpose of enforcing this chapter and for reviewing penalty provisions and the adequacy of the enforcement process. It is the intent of the Legislature that the authority and its enforcement activities not be funded by appropriations from the state budget. (b) The authority shall utilize the services of the Alabama Public Service Commission to provide administrative support for the authority, subject to the concurrence by the authority board. Section 34-43-6 Alabama Board of Massage Therapy. (a) There is created the Alabama Board of Massage Therapy. The purpose of the board is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public by ensuring that licensed massage therapists, massage therapy schools, and massage therapy instructors meet prescribed standards of education, competency, and practice. To accomplish this mission, the board shall establish standards pursuant to this chapter to complete all board functions in a timely and effective manner and to provide open and immediate access to all relevant public information.
