Section 11-44B-8 Temporary and permanent vacancies in office of mayor; vacancy on city council. (a) Temporary Vacancy in the Office of Mayor. The council shall elect from its members, a president pro tempore of the council. In the case of the temporary absence of the mayor or his inability to serve temporarily on account of sickness or any other good reason, the president pro tempore of the council shall act as mayor pro tempore with the power and authority of the mayor during such time. Provided; however, the president pro tempore while acting as mayor pro tempore shall not exercise the mayor's right to vote nor the right of approval or veto of ordinances or resolutions, nor receive the rate of compensation or allowance of the mayor. In the event of a failure or refusal of the president pro tempore of the council to act, the council may appoint one of its members to act as mayor pro tempore with like effect, which appointment shall be entered in the minutes of the council. Section 26-2A-152 Powers of conservator in administration. (a) Subject to limitation provided in Section 26-2A-154, a conservator shall have all of the powers conferred in this section and any additional powers now or hereafter conferred by law on trustees in this state. Section 40-9B-3 Definitions. (a) For purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases mean: (1) ABATE, ABATEMENT. A reduction or elimination of a taxpayer's liability for tax or payments required to be made in lieu thereof. Section 11-40-65 Filing petition for foreclosure; form of petition; notice. (a) After a municipal code lien has been recorded with the office of the probate judge of the county in which the real property lies, the Class 2 municipality may identify those properties on which to commence a judicial in rem foreclosure in accordance with this article, except that those properties the Class 2 municipality identifies as owner occupied shall not be subject to judicial in rem foreclosure under this article.
