Section 32-13-3 Authority to sell; notice; bill of sale; records; voiding of sale; title. (a)
A person, as defined in Section 40-12-240, in possession of a motor vehicle that is considered
an abandoned motor vehicle may sell the motor vehicle at a public auction. (b)(1) Notice of
the date, time, and place of the sale and a description of the motor vehicle to be sold, including
the year, make, model, and vehicle identification number, shall be given by publication once
a week for two successive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation in the county in which
the sale is to be held, provided the vehicle is currently registered in the county. In counties
in which no newspaper is published, notice shall be given by posting such notice in a conspicuous
place at the courthouse. The first publication or posting, as the case may be, shall be at

Section 40-12-172 Transient dealers. Each person doing business as a transient dealer as defined
in this section and who does not pay the privilege license under Section 40-12-73 or the license
permit under Section 40-25-19 shall pay an annual license tax to the state of $30. The payment

Section 45-10-234.03 Notice and sale of stolen or abandoned property. (a) As often as necessary,
the sheriff shall sell at public auction, including an Internet auction, to the highest bidder
all abandoned or stolen personal property, other than firearms, which has been recovered by

Section 45-29-231 Operation of jail store. (a) The Sheriff of Fayette County or the authorized
agents of the sheriff may operate a jail store for prisoners within the confines of the county
jail. The jail store shall be operated to serve the needs of the jail population. (b)(1) The
sheriff shall establish and maintain a Law Enforcement Fund in a bank located in Fayette County.
All proceeds collected under this section shall be deposited by the sheriff into the Law Enforcement
Fund. (2) The sheriff shall keep an account of all jail store sales and transactions of the
Law Enforcement Fund for annual audit by the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts. The
