Section 45-49-40.06 Application of non-resident barbers or apprentices. (a) Any person who is at least 18 years of age and of good moral character and temperate habits, who has a license as a practicing barber from another state or county having substantially the same requirements for licensing barbers as are required by this part, or who can prove by sworn affidavits that he or she has practiced as a barber in another state for at least five years within the 10 years next immediately preceding the making of the application in such county, upon the payment of the required fee, shall be granted permission to take an examination to determine his or her fitness to receive a license to practice as a barber. Should he or she fail to pass the examination, he or she within three months, may file a new application, accompanied by the required fee, and take another examination. Section 34-7B-7 Application for examination or licensure. (a) Any person who desires to engage in any of the practices regulated by the board pursuant to this chapter shall be a citizen of the United States or, if not a citizen of the United States, a person who is legally present in the United States with appropriate documentation from the federal government, and shall file with the board a written application for examination or licensure.
