Section 45-40-81.03 Jail and courthouse. (a) In addition to any court costs and fees now or hereafter authorized in Lawrence County, the Lawrence County Commission may impose by resolution of the commission an additional fee in an amount not to exceed thirty-five dollars ($35) to be assessed and taxed as costs on each civil case and on each criminal case, including traffic cases, but excluding small claims cases, filed in the circuit court, district court, or any municipal court in Lawrence County, as well as an additional fee not to exceed five dollars ($5) for the service of a pleading or other document in connection with any action or case. These fees shall not be waived by any court unless all other fees, assessments, costs, fines, and charges associated with the case are waived. Section 45-10-180.01 County roads - Permit for certain activities; fines and liability. (a) In Cherokee County, any person or entity engaged in construction, excavation, or similar activity resulting in the cutting across or going under a county road or county right-of-way shall obtain a permit from the county commission. The issuance of the permit by the county commission shall be conditioned on the person or entity posting a bond in an amount to be set by the county commission sufficient to cover the costs of the repair of any damage to the county road or county right-of-way from the activity. Pursuant to subsection (f) of Amendment No. 373 to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, the Hale County Commission may levy, in addition to any other tax, an ad valorem tax in the amount of 3 mills on each dollar of taxable property in the county.
