Any person who has been committed to the Mobile County Jail under a criminal sentence may be released therefrom at any time by order of the Circuit Court of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit or district court. Such release shall be for the purpose of obtaining and working at gainful employment or for such other purpose as the court may deem conducive to his or her rehabilitation and shall be for such time or intervals of time and under such terms and conditions as the court may order.
