Section 45-49-230.02 Salaries - Pay plan. (a)(1)a. The repeal of Acts 1976, No. 710, 1976 Regular
Session (Acts 1976, p. 990), as amended, will not result in any financial loss for any deputy
sheriff of any rank or grade, or both. b. This subsection shall include actual range and step
for every position. c. Deputies shall receive 50 percent of the state trooper pay adjustment
as of October 1, 1981, for each pay period retroactive to October 1, 1981, through pay period
ending April 23, 1982. d. The new pay range shall be effective with the pay period beginning
April 24, 1982. e. In converting from the State Trooper Pay Plan to the Mobile County Personnel
Board Pay Plan, any deputy sheriff of any rank or grade whose adjusted pay falls between steps

Section 45-49A-63 Definitions. As used in this part, the following words and terms shall have
meanings as follows: (1) ANNUITY STARTING DATE. The first day for which a benefit is payable
as an annuity or any other form under Section 45-49A-63.80. (2) BENEFICIARY. The person or
persons named by a member by written designation filed with the board to receive payments
under this plan after the member's death. The member may not change his or her beneficiary

Section 45-46-230 Deputies; clerical staff and jail personnel. (a) The composition of the Sheriff's
Department of Marengo County shall include no less than five deputies and one chief deputy;
and any increase in deputy personnel shall be approved by the Marengo County Commission. (b)(1)
The deputies shall receive the same compensation as a trooper with the Alabama State Law Enforcement
Agency and the compensation shall be adjusted on the anniversary date of the deputies' employment
to include any raises, including cost-of-living raises that state troopers receive after or
have received at the beginning of this fiscal year. The deputies shall be placed in the same
step bracket as a trooper with the same length of service and shall automatically receive

Section 45-49-120.04 Supervisory committee. (a) There is hereby established the Supervisory
Committee of the Mobile County Personnel Board. The supervisory committee hereby created shall

Section 45-39-232 Personnel; uniforms; vacation and sick leave. (a)(1) In lieu of the deputies
and assistants heretofore authorized by law the Sheriff of Lauderdale County shall appoint:

Section 45-49-120.06 Personnel board. (a)(1) The personnel board shall consist of five members
designated respectively as Member 1, Member 2, Member 3, Member 4, and Member 5, each of whom
shall be over 19 years of age, of recognized good character and ability, a qualified elector

Section 45-37-123.01 Definitions. For the purposes of this part, the following terms shall
have the following meanings: (1) ACT. The act adding this part, to be called the General Retirement

Section 45-49-120.10 Pay plan. (a) After consultation with appointing authorities, or other
officers, or both, the director shall prepare and recommend to the board a pay plan for all
employees in the classified service. The pay plan shall include, for each class of positions,
a minimum and a maximum rate not inconsistent with the rate or rates as may otherwise in specific
instances be fixed by law. In establishing the rates, the director shall give consideration
