(a)(1) The Greene County Commission is hereby authorized to impose upon every person, firm, or corporation who sells, stores, delivers, uses, or otherwise consumes tobacco or certain tobacco products in Greene County a county privilege, license, or excise tax up to the following amounts: a. Five cents ($0.05) for each package of cigarettes, made of tobacco or any substitute therefor. b. Five cents ($0.05) for each cigar of any description made of tobacco or any substitute therefor. c. (a) In addition to any other provision of law or any rule or regulation by the state or federal government or local government in Limestone County, and specifically Chapter 27, Title 22, as amended, relating to the regulation, operation, or location of any privately-owned or controlled regional landfill for solid waste, the Limestone County Commission shall provide for a referendum on the question of the location, acceptance, or operation of such privately owned or controlled regional landfill for solid waste after the public hearing thereon. Section 45-8-22 Special licenses; additional taxes; maintenance of records. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation, other than the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, to sell at retail in Calhoun County any spirituous or vinous liquors without first obtaining a special license from the judge of probate that shall be in addition to all other licenses required by law. (a) The Revenue Commissioner and License Commissioner of Limestone County, respectively, shall each be responsible for the budgetary operations and functions of his or her office.
