Section 45-8A-22.05 Expense allowances. The members of the board of the civil service commission of any city which has a civil service commission in any county having a population of not less than 95,000 nor more than 130,000 according to the last or any subsequent federal decennial census shall receive an expense allowance as follows: the chair shall receive two hundred dollars ($200) per month, and the other members shall receive one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) per month. The expense allowance shall be paid from funds of the city on order of the board in the same manner as other city salaries and expenses and shall be in lieu of all other compensation and expenses provided members of the board by general, special, or local law. The chair, with approval of the county commission, shall employ a clerk/administrator who shall devote his or her time to the duties of his or her office, and he or she shall receive compensation for his or her services as may be determined and fixed by the county commission, and the county commission may employ other clerical help and assistance as may be deemed necessary for the proper, efficient, and economical operation of the office of the county commission.
