Section 45-49-102.24 School council - School policies. Subject to applicable state and
federal laws, the school council in a pilot program shall participate in setting school policy
which shall provide an environment to enhance the achievement of the students and help the
school meet the goals established by this subpart. The principal shall be the primary administrator

Section 16-6D-4 Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall
have the following meanings: (1) ACADEMIC YEAR. The 12-month period beginning on July 1 and

Section 45-49-102.31 Policy areas implemented by principal. Subject to applicable state
and school board guidelines and statutory state and federal provisions, the school council
in a pilot program shall adopt a policy to be implemented by the principal in the following
additional areas: (1) Recommendation of optional courses to be approved by the school board.

Section 45-49-102.20 School-based decision making pilot programs. (a) By January 1,
1999, the Mobile County School Board shall adopt a policy for implementing pilot programs
for school-based decision making beginning with the 1999-2000 school year pursuant to this
subpart and shall select schools to participate in the pilot program as follows: (1) One elementary
school in each Senate district. (2) One middle school selected from the county. (3) One high

Section 16-1-38.1 Professional development program for county and city superintendents
of education. (a) The School Superintendents of Alabama, a professional organization, shall
establish and administer a professional development program for all county and city superintendents
of education. (b) This program shall draw guidance from the National Staff Development Council
definition of professional development that is included in the proposal to amend ESEA Section
9101 (34)(C), currently before the U.S. Congress and defined as "a comprehensive, sustained
and intensive approach to improving superintendents effectiveness in raising student achievement."

in a pilot program shall participate in any vote or decision of the school council until the
member has satisfactorily completed a school council training course as provided herein. The
