Section 45-30-50 Qualifications; expenses. (a) This section shall apply only to Franklin County.
(b) Each constable, elected or appointed after August 1, 2001, shall have attended and completed
a course of study at a police academy or similar institution and shall be in full compliance
with minimum standards of the Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission under Section
36-21-46. (c) Constables holding office on August 1, 2001, are exempt from this section. (d)
The Franklin County Commission shall provide an annual appropriation in an amount of up to
fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) per year to the office of the Sheriff of Franklin County
to be used to reimburse constables for actual and necessary expenses in the performance of

Section 45-40-82 Investigators. (a) All investigators employed by the district attorney's office
of the Thirty-sixth Judicial Circuit shall have all the powers and authority and immunities
of a deputy sheriff. All investigators employed by the district attorney's office of the Thirty-sixth

library fund pursuant to this chapter or pursuant to local act, and in any county which hereafter

Section 16-1-44.1 School security personnel and school resource officers. (a) As used in this
section, the following terms have the following meanings: (1) RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.
A person who was a law enforcement officer and retired in good standing from a federal, state,
or local law enforcement agency with at least 20 years of law enforcement experience. (2)
SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER. A person who is certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards
