Section 45-47-230.01 Pay increases. (a) In Marion County, all employees of the sheriff's office
shall receive pay increases at the same time and in the same percentages as pay increases
that are granted to state Merit System employees by the Legislature. Provided, however, that
the compensation of the employees shall never be reduced by this section or any interpretation
thereof. (b) The pay increases shall be paid out of the same funds from which the employees

in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with
tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to
