Section 45-45-84.01 Salary supplement - Judges of District Court of Madison County. (a) The
salaries of each judge of the District Court of Madison County shall be supplemented by the
governing body of the county in an amount equal to 30 percent of the salary paid the judges
by the state. This supplement shall be paid in the same manner and at the same frequency as
supplements paid by the county to circuit court judges. (b) The supplement herein provided

Section 12-10A-1 Compensation of judges - Uniform plan. (a) In recognition of the disparity
in compensation of circuit and district judges caused by varying amounts of local supplements
to state salaries and the need for a uniform plan of compensation, the following comprehensive
plan is adopted for the compensation of judges. This plan, when implemented, shall reward
judges for judicial experience and phase out local salary supplements and expense allowances.

Section 45-29-81 Public defender fund. (a) There is established in the Twenty-fourth Judicial
Circuit a public defender fund for the payment of salaries and operating expenses of the indigent
defense system within the Twenty-fourth Judicial Circuit to be administered in accordance

Section 45-45-85.21 Recording fee. (a) In Madison County, a special recording fee of four dollars
($4) shall be collected by the judge of probate on each real or personal property, uniform
commercial code, judicial, or other instrument recorded or filed for record in the probate
court of the county. The special recording fee shall be in addition to all other fees, taxes,
and other charges required by law to be paid upon the recording or filing for record of any
real or personal property, uniform commercial code, judicial, or other instrument. All special
